Terrassa, with a population of over 200,000 people, is a university and industrial city with a rich cultural and
artistic heritage. It is one of the capitals
of Vallès Occidental and one of the most important medium-sized cities in
Catalonia. 
Terrassa's personality is influenced by
an industrial past which has left its unique imprint on the city’s heritage. Its

things.Terrassa is also an active city, featuring a lively array of cultural and leisure facilities, sports activities, large green spaces and places for people to get together.
Its Jazz Festival, Modernista Fair, field hockey, dance, music and theatre seasons, castellers (human tower building) displays, the romanic churches around the centre and the two "rambles" to walk through and the leisure areas like Parc Valles make Tarrassa a city with an enormous variety of things to do.

2. Why
do people think that?
Because
it was an industrial city. The city of smokestacks. In 1992 it began to have
tourism , thanks to the Barcelona Olympics. And in 2002, the tourist office
began offering guided tours. There is tourism in Terrassa as, for example, la
Seu d’Egara (Esglèsies de Sant Pere) is one of the most important in Europe and
are undoubtedly a touristic attraction.
In
addition, Terrassa has been a city where modernism has influenced a lot.
Buildings such as the Masia Freixa, Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, casa Baumann or Casa Alegre de Sagrera.
3. What do you and, in general, the city hall,
do to encourage tourism?
Organizing
fairs and festivals often, provide more facilities to the visitors during their
stay. Terrassa is one of the members of XATIC ( Industrial Network of Industrial
Tourism of Catalonia).
4. Terrassa
is visited for its past or its present?
For its
past and how we keep it in the present. The presen we are now building wll be
the past in a few years .
5. What is the most touristic season in the
city?
Spring-summer.
It has always been the same one.
6. What kind of tourists visit Terrassa?
Tourists
come to a very specialized tourism: the map in hand and a marked route often
guided.
7. From where tourists usually are?
40%
of tourists are from outside of Catalonia. Of this percentage, 25% are from
abroad.
For
example, the Modernist Fair, 25% of visitors
were from outside Terrassa.
8. We spent a survey and, from Matadepera
people requested a more active public transport between both cities. What do
you think about?
There
are not many people in Matadepera few so
add more buses won’t be profitable. From Terrassa we cannot do anything . Matadepera’s people should fend on their own because the
town hall of Matadepera won’t add more
buses and Terrassa won’t do this for any other village.
9. Terrassa is also known for the hockey clubs.
People who come to see the sport or participate in tournaments or campus are a significant part of tourism in the city?
Yes. Hockey moves quite a lot of people and
Terrassa is one of the headquarters of the sport. It’s an important part of
tourism, and often those benefits are obtained most by hotels.
10. It is considered Tourism people coming from
surrounding villages to Terrassa at the weekends?
Not.

11. About which touristic place information is
most required?
People
request information from multiple sites,
because we offer a wide variety of information in order to tourists, but the
most asked one is la Seu d’Egara.
12. Is tourism washable in Terrassa?
It
is very profitable. The money is spent to promote the city and this is never
wasted. With tourism not only wins the city, but traders also gain important
benefits.
13. How much money a tourist spends in Terrassa?
For
example, in the Modernist Fair this year, it’s been calculated that people
spent between 28 and 30 euro per person
